Error message in Media Files Manager. 31 Mar 2011 22:31 #2504

Hey brothers. I'm back with some comments and a problem...

1. BibleStudy 6.2.X is better than ever! I love it and wish I had come up with the program, but alas, I am not a programmer.

2. Thank you so much for making my life easier when posting sermons.

3. God bless all of you.

And a problem...

When I go to Edit Media: [new], I am getting this error

Warning: get_headers(http://) [function.get-headers]: failed to open stream: operation failed in /home1/vineyar1/public_html/administrator/components/com_biblestudy/controllers/mediafilesedit.php on line 391

Warning: array_change_key_case() [function.array-change-key-case]: The argument should be an array in /home1/vineyar1/public_html/administrator/components/com_biblestudy/controllers/mediafilesedit.php on line 391

I'm not sure what the error affects because the sermons show properly.

Suggestions??

Hey Ken (love the avatar)

The error is coming from a function that attempts to auto populate the file size by trying to get that size from the server where you media file is located. Because of some server configurations it can't always get that info and sometimes errors appear and we are unable to catch them. But it shouldn't do anything to your files and should only appear on the admin side when you are in a media file record.

Glad you like the component. We've been very hard at work on a Joomla 1.6 version which will be out in alpha next week.

I just updated to 6.2.4 and Im having a little rough time getting the AVR to work.
I read in this forum that it has some issues to work with bible study and it will not be used on future releases. Do you recommend not using this component anymore? which player are you planing on using on future releases? if no answer for the las question.. what player do you recommend to use?

the only error Im getting is this:

Notice: Undefined variable: file_jbs_media in C:\inetpub\gacsouth.org\administrator\components\com_biblestudy\views\mediafilesedit\tmpl\form.php on line 217
Filesize

the error makes my admin screen all distorted but I dont see it causing any errors on the player.

The error is probably coming because you haven't put in a filesize for that media. You are getting the notice because you have a high level of notices set on your local site. A notice isn't really an error put telling us that we could have initialized the variable earlier. Set your error level to System Default and you probably won't get that notice.

As for players, I'd suggest JPlayer or All Videos plugin. Both of these are supported in the new version - in fact, JPlayer is right now Joomla 1.6 compliant.

The main thing that AVR has is the AVR button which I really like, but not a deal breaker. I've asked the developer on several occasions if he is going to write a J 1.6 version but haven't gotten an answer.

Basically any plugin that uses the codes like {youtube}thecodegoeshere{/youtube} will work with JBS

Thank you for your prompt answer.

Last night I was reading the Docs area and I found out now you use jw player as internal player. My problem with this player would be that it doenst play .wmv files

let me show you what problem im having with JBS

on Template display settings>Media "Default player for all media" is set to AVR

They say a Picture says more than 1000 words so I hope it does.

Note: I tried jplayer but is just like the internal player.

question: Would I have to chage all of my media to a different extension other than .wmv for this players to work on my site?
Do you recomend .flv over .mp4?

What about trying All Videos plugin?

All Videos

If I had a choice, I'd go with mp4 over flv (at least that's what I do on our church site)
