TOPIC: itemid on link

itemid on link 12 Mar 2010 05:10 #1961

I'm having difficulty with the link from the module on my homepage. I want it to link to a details page with the same modules as the main studies list. Currently when I click on the link it displays the details in the content section of my homepage. If I add &itemid=4 on the end of the URL it displays how I want it to. Is there anyway to alter the code that generates the link to add the item code manually?

Thanks

There are some settings that might help in the Administration tab of com_biblestudy under All Videos Reloaded tab.

Normally Joomla controls the Itemid.

I just tried this, but it didn't do anything.

What I want to do is link from the text of the module to the details page and be able to control the look of that page. At the moment I am at the mercy of whatever modules Joomla decides to put on. An example would be on www.lonlasgospelmission.com When you click on the sermon links in the bottom left you lose the modules on the right.

Is there any way to force Joomla to go to the set itemid or do you think this something I need to work with?

I think I see what you are asking. That is controlled in the Extensions | Modules. You go into each module and tell Joomla where it should appear. The default is all pages. You select "Show only on selected" or something like that, then click on those menu links where you want the module to appear.

For me, my front page modules are set only to appear when Home is clicked (the main page of the website). So when someone clicks on a study link, for instance, all the modules go away.

Does that make sense?

Yes, thanks. That is what I normally do with assigning modules. On the website I linked you to it turns off the modules. The problem on the one I am working on at the moment is that it doesn't turn off the modules. This means that the details are put at the bottom of a already full page.

I think that what I probably need to do is turn off the link so that people can listen on the home page, but need to follow a different route through to the details page for each sermon.

Thanks for your help though.

Do you have a link so I can see what you are talking about?
