Hi I'm a new user to this extension.
I grabbed the main component and upgraded to the latest version.
I started with the sample study and modified the content - input mostly text and a thumbnail image.
When I went to check it out on my site, I noticed that it prettymuch did nothing.
The title, scripture reference and some icons were displayed, but none of the links worked - e.g. to go to main content or Details section.

I then proceeded to download some modules and plugins from your site in case I was simply missing something, installed them; and after
fiddling with some of the setttings (or trying to - they were pretty full on and confusing to me) All I managed to do was to somehow break the tooltips - which are now displaying as broken html.

I also noticed that when trying to alter things in the Template Display Settings, and hitting save or apply, it would go back to the main Joomla control screen with no user notice and nothing appeared to have changed. Also had no luck adding a new template for the Study, so had to change the original template by replacing the CSS to try changing the appearance a little bit - as I noticed you have a handy Reset Css button up there, but yeah. No luck fixing the tooltips (which I'm not sure how I broke) or getting the Details links to work! - also Haven't tried linking video or mp3 content yet but I'm not sure the thing is even working yet so.. one step at a time.


Anyway sorry for the really wordy post!

Yep, I also figured out how to add mp3 content - linked a 4mb mp3 file to my study, and that doesn't seem to be working either.
Looks to come up OK, but just sits there buffering when I try to play it. Need help.

Hi Jonathan - sorry you are having difficulties. I'll try to offer some help if I can.



You need to set the link to something - ie the details page or the 1st mp3 file. It seems you are having troubles with saving the Template Display settings - and that be what's going on here. I would suggest you uninstall, remove all tables associated with jos_bsms and start over.

Make sure the Template settings save in the db (ie, takes you back to the template list rather than your admin main view of Joomla's backend).

Also make sure there is actually a media file where you set.

I tried to access your test mp3 and my browser did nothing (that's outside of the component).

I went into the Bible Study Administration section and chose Drop Tables on Uninstall, then unstalled it. Reinstalled it, set up the study again, but still no luck... Do I have to do something in PhpMyAdmin?? I can try to if I have to...

Ok. I selected Drop Tables on Uninstall again, Uninstalled each bs related component, module and plugin. Went into MyPhpAdmin, selected all tables starting in jos_bsms, redownloaded the 6.1.5 component install, installed the component through the Joomla extensions manager...
Then previewed my site, and the tool tips were still broken. I went to the Bible Study component manager, into Template Display Settings, selected the '1-Default' template, went down to List Items, and hid a bunch of the dropdown/filter parameters, clicked save - and the same thing happened: it wen to the Joomla backend with no message, and no changes had taken place.
It seems strange to me that the tooltips were broken after complete uninstall and reinstall, particularly since that was working when I first used it...
TRES BIZARRE!

Why don't you contact me privately (link at bottom of page) and give me an admin user/pass to your site. There is something amiss in your database.

The tooltips are an issue - still not sure why it breaks but it may have something to do with a mootools collision.
