TOPIC: Issue with podcast and iTunes art

Issue with podcast and iTunes art 17 Mar 2009 20:11 #722

Running Bible Study Com 6.0.09 and Mod 2.1.01 on Joomla 1.5.9. I have artwork specified in the component but when I open the podcast in iTunes, I do not see anything. If I check the feed with www.nobodylikesonions.com/feedcheck/ the following error appears

ITUNES IMAGE: MISSING ITUNES CHANNEL IMAGE TAG

I checked the XML file, and here is what I see:

<image>
<link>http://www.lebanonpc.org</link>

<url>
http://www.lebanonpc.org/images/stories/podcastimage.jpg
</url>
<title>Lebanon Presbyterian Church</title>
<height>300</height>
<width>300</width>
</image>
<itunes:link rel="image" type="video/jpeg" href="www.lebanonpc.org/images/stories/podcastimage.jpg">Lebanon Presbyterian Church</itunes:link>

Is this something that is fixed in the Com 6.00.11? If so, can I upgrade without losing all my configuration settings?

Thanks in advance!

There is a problem with the controller that creates the podcast. iTunes changed one of their xml tags. It is fixed in the current podcast publish plugin version 1.3. It will be included in biblestudy version 6.0.12 but is not corrected in version .11. You can use the plugin to publish your podcasts automatically each day.

You probably should go ahead and upgrade to version .11 anyway. You can simply install it right over the top of your existing com_biblestudy. You shouldn't lose your configuration settings.

Version .12 will address the iTunes image problem but we have no date set yet for its release.

In addition to using the podcast publish plugin to generate the correct XML file. You should also add your image as album art to your mp3.

I fixed the XML for my website a while back, but couldn't get iTunes to display the image. Finally I added the album art to the latest sermon and immediately it showed up in iTunes.
