Tried to install the new bible study 6.00.11. (Didn't uninstall the previous component 6.00.10)
Received error It was not possible to copy the selected file.
JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file:

Also tried to install module biblestudy 2.22.00, and got the same error.
I checked help>system info>directory permissions and everything is writeable.
Using Joomla 1.5.5.
Am I doing something wrong to upgrade?
Thanks!

First off, you should upgrade to Joomla 1.5.9 as there are security issues with earlier versions. Are you able to install other components? Make sure you have entered your ftp credentials in the Extension install screen. See if those two things don't solve your problem!

I just installed a plugin today (lazyBackup) and it installed successfully. I haven't had any problems installing anything, except the biblestudy 6.00.11.
I really don't want to upgrade the Joomla version, because I have a component/plugin, that has issues w/the updated Joomla.
I don't know what or where the ftp credentials in the extension install screen are.
In the extension manager, I see no place to put ftp credentials.??
I'm still getting error

* It was not possible to copy the selected file.
* JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: /mnt/stor2-wc1-dfw1/374275/374290/www.rmccmontana.org/web/content/tmp/inst...85dd/site/index.html to /mnt/stor2-wc1-dfw1/374275/374290/www.rmccmontana.org/web/content/componen...iblestudy/index.html

I'm sure I'm having more trouble because I already have this component installed. I'm also sure if this were a clean install it would be fine. I just don't want to lose the work that has already been done in the sermon files.
Does it require Joomla 1.5.9 to run?
Thanks

bible study does not require anything other than Joomla 1.5.x to run. When you go to Extensions Install on the admin side and you browse to a file, there will be a user password for the ftp credentials - unless you have put those into the global configuration, then there won't be any boxes for them on the install screen.

You shouldn't run into problems with a partial install, but I suppose that could be the issue. Can you ftp to your site and see if there is a folder called /components/com_biblestudy or one called /administrator/components/com_biblestudy ? That would tell you if Joomla stopped in the middle of an install. In that case, remove those folders and try to install again.

In looking at your site: www.rccmontana.org I can see the component installed and running. Here is a url I used to look at it:
www.rmccmontana.org/index.php?option=com...amp;view=studieslist

Are you sure there is a problem?

If you want, you can email me directly from the link on the left and give me a login to your site and I can take a look. You might try just creating a menu item to the bible study component and see if everything really is all right.
