Listing Sermon Series 21 Oct 2008 02:00 #322

I have been playing around with the Bible Study component for a few hours and I like it. Well done folks!

One of the things I would like to be able to do is to place a link on the fron page of my church website which takes the user to a list of all the sermons in a current series. At the moment I can see how the user can be sent to the complete list of everything from which he/she must then choose from a drop down list. I want the user to be able to go straight there! Any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks!

Greetings!

You can use the module for that purpose. Make a copy of the module from the Extensions | Module Manager page. (That's the Bible Study module, that is). Then in the parameters of the module set it to display a particular series from the drop down.

To display this module in a content item, set it to appear on one of the user defined positions (on the left side). Then open a new content item and put this in there or whatever one you use. Then the module will be displayed when that content item comes up.

You can then create a link to that content item from your menu.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Tom, but I'm confused. If I go to Extensions-->Module Manager I get a list of modules, but none of them is 'Bible Study'. Have I done the right thing?

Stephen, I assumed you had installed the Bible Study module. It's available from the Joomlacode site. Follow the path to the file locations from the left menu and go to Module, download and install. Once you have installed a module you can make multiple copies of it to use in different ways.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Tom. I'm a bit further on. I did not have the module installed as you noted. I have done that now, copied it, chosen the series I want, set the formatting parameters. Then I have set up an article with the like you suggested, and linked the article to a menu item for now. However, clicking the menu item gets me to the view shown on the picture.

As you can see, the formatting looks random even though I have set some parameters for good proportions. I don't seem to have any more parameters left! (As I write I have just noticed that every word has to have its own line.) What am I missing?
