TOPIC: Bible Study 6.0.08 and AVR 1.2.4

Bible Study 6.0.08 and AVR 1.2.4 02 Sep 2008 21:23 #256

I've just upgraded my site to the latest version of both Bible Study and All Videos Reloaded and now my mp3's won't play.

Well they won't play if I setup everything they way I used to, that is by using Bible Study's server and folder settings.

When I use the documented settings as follows then the mp3 won't play:

{mp3remote}-{/mp3remote}
using the server I've setup (localhost)
using the folder I've setup that contains all my mp3's. (/media/sermons/September)
using the file I've entered into the filename field.

(These exact settings worked under a previous version 6.0.07c and AVR 1.1)

If however, I use the new AVR Media button I can get it to work but only if I put my mp3's in the images/stories/audio folder and select the file from the drop down list in the AVR Browser.

But this bypasses Bible Study's function of building the location using server and folder locations. It also takes away the possibility of separate folders such as September, October, etc. As the number of files grows this will become extremely cumbersome.

I hope I've explained this clearly enough.

If you use the {mp3remote} AVR tag it will work from Bible Study. You are probably trying to play it as a local mp3 file. Remote doesn't mean it has to be on a different server. With AVR if you use just mp3 it looks for the file in the folder you indicate in the settings of AVR.

Does this make sense? Your tag for AVR will look like {mp3remote}/media/sermons/September/9-7-2008.mp3{/mp3remote}. This assumes you choose the file from the AVR Media button. In that case you would not put in a server or folder in the drop down in Bible Study's media record screen.

Alternatively you could just put {mp3remote}-{/mp3remote} in the mediacode section and then choose a server/folder and type in the filename.

Hope this helps.

Blessings,

By the way - I'd suggest using 6.0.10 - there are some bug fixes to the way Bible Study handles the AVR code in that release.

Okay I've got it working now. I was doing everything you suggested and it still wasn't working. I discovered that the problem was when using the following in the media code:

{mp3remote}-{/mp3remote}

This wouldn't work. But if I remove the http and have it as:

{mp3remote}-{/mp3remote}

This works.

This is strange because when I was using 6.0.07c it was the otherway around, it wouldn't work without the http in the code. But for some reason 6.0.10 doesn't require it.

No big deal. As long as it works I'm happy.

Thank you for your prompt response and all your help. I love this product and use it for both my local church's website and now for a client of mine.

OK - now I see what you are getting at. We had to make a change to the code because some users had links to media that did not start with . To make it work in as many applications as possible removed the automatic adding of . Just didn't document that well.

Glad you found the answer and are happy with the component!

Well I just ran into yet another problem but I'm not sure if you can help or not. I believe it's a problem with AVR 1.2.4 and I have posted a question in the Joomla forums thread dedicated to AVR.

But I thought I would ask you to see if maybe you've run across this and may know a solution.

I've enabled sh404SEF on my site and now I can no longer play my mp3s again.

I tried disabling it for biblestudy in the configuration but still no go.

I am getting the following error message:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /home/content/P/G/b/PGbc779/html/plugins/content/avreloaded.php on line 565

When I completely disable sh404SEF everything starts to work again.

Oh and it was working with sh404SEF when I was running biblestudy 1.0.07c and AVR 1.1
