TOPIC: Local System Browser to Upload Media Files

Local System Browser to Upload Media Files 02 Sep 2008 18:28 #249

This topic may have already been addressed and if it has I apologize. I tried searching but didn't find anything

I was just wondering if it is in the works for a future release to be able to browse my local system for media files and upload them to the server and have the filename automatically entered in the appropriate field? Something like the image button does when entering/editing content.

If this is being worked on do you have any idea as to when it would be released?

I am developing a site for a client and I really don't want to have to teach her ftp and Joomla's media manager has a limit of 10mb.

Thanks
Allen

Currently you can upload files but you must put in the filename manually. This is available on the front end and back end. We did have it so that filename was generated automatically. It caused a problem when editing the media record later. We just haven't gotten around to fixing that bug but will note it for a future release. Not expected release date yet.

Hope your client can still find use for the component.

I must be missing something or else I don't have something setup correctly. I don't see anywhere that I can upload media files in either the back end or front end.

I am running version 6.0.07c

Never mind, I just discovered I'm not running the current release. I will download the newest release and see if that helps.

I did notice that the latest release includes a request I made about the topic in the study list. Thank You!

One last question;

Is there a way to upgrade without having to uninstall and reinstall the whole component? I really don't want to have to re-enter the studies I currently have setup not to mention all the custom parameters I have.

You should just be able to install right on top without uninstalling.
