TOPIC: I attempted to update my PHP and oops...

I attempted to update my PHP and oops... 25 Aug 2009 11:47 #1045

Hello all,

I'm running Bible Studies 6.00.11a, Joomla 1.5.10, and PHP 5.2.9 with no restrictions.

I followed the instructions to make this change to a couple of files:
joomlaoregon.org/joomlaoregon/index.php?...p;catid=4&id=799

and I apparently did something wrong, as this is what my Studies List currently looks like:
gallowayumc.org/index.php?option=com_bib...slist&Itemid=160

Could someone bail me out by sending me the properly modified files or originals that will make my install work again? I should have backed up my originals before playing in Dreamweaver, I really do know better, I just don't always think it through.

Thank you all!

Peace,
Kevin

Kevin,

If you haven't modified any other files you can safely reinstall the component right on top of your old install. It will simply copy over the files - though you may have to redo your parameters. Another way is to unpack the zip file and just copy the files you've changed back over. In Karen's example I think it was only two files changed, right?

Tom,

I followed Karen's instructions in her post and that's what I ended up with. I'll do a reinstall and reconfigure, will I lose my podcast xml as well?

Peace,
Kevin

No, you won't lose anything that comes from the db, nor will the xml file be overwritten. In fact, once you reinstall, if you open the parameters from the menu item you created originally, it should retain the old settings, and you can just resave it.

Thanks Tom, I reinstalled and all is now well.

I'm looking forward to 6.00.12 when this reordering is a part of the Component, it would really clean up my Studies List.

Peace,
Kevin

We've actually renamed it 6.1.00 due the vast changes in the component. We have finished all the coding and are now troubleshooting errors and finishing the installation routines. Then we'll put it out for beta testing. Look for a final new version towards the end of September, unless all goes really well during the testing phase.
