TOPIC: Sorting order

Sorting order 27 Jul 2009 19:49 #1022

When the bible studies web page comes up, the scripture column displays in descending order even though I have selected Ascending for the default order in the Menu > Parameters (Component) area. All my settings are done in this area and nothing in the Global parameters area. Please direct me to where I can change the code so I can set the sort order for the Scripture column to appear in ascending order? Also concerning the web page, I would like to know how to change the sorting by date (it appears this is the default) to sorting by Scripture. Thank you.

The user can generally change the sorting by the drop down. If you want to tweak the underlying sorting you would need to edit some of the component files - especially the studieslist.php in the /model folder. Are you comfortable doing that?

Thanks Tom. I opened the studieslist.php file and changed DESC to ASC in a couple of the orderby areas and that appears to have helped.

I have a similar question which I think I'm missing something obvious on.

I've changed the setting under: Edit Default template > Filters > Default Date Ascending/Descending to Ascending, but when I look at the Study List view, it doesn't change the order.

I want to make the default order for the date sorting to be "Ascending" unless I specify filter_orders=DESC on certain views.

Is there any way to do that that doesn't require editing code?

Thanks!

Looking at the code this should work but it apparently doesn't. We'll put it in as a bug report.

By the way, I just noticed a glaring omission from my original post. Hopefully I can insert it retroactively:

"Thank you so much for your work on this project. Your component is exceptional and is a blessing to our church, simplifying and improving our sermon interface, greatly furthering to get out God's Word."

Hope that can be put in. Thanks for your all work and your help here.
