TOPIC: Access control question

Access control question 21 Oct 2011 18:51 #2920

I would like to restrict certain studies or series to an access group. I see where acl's can be set for the abilty to edit, but I don't see where I can completely hide a series or a study based on an access group. Is this possible with Bible Study and Joomla 1.7?

Thanks.

In the individual studies there is a field called "Access" - it's a drop down where you can choose which group to have the study visible to. It appears to offer only one choice - not sure if that is a Joomla thing or if there is a way we can do multiple groups within the component - but for now it allows only one group. Anyone with higher permission than that group should get to see it too.

We don't currently have a way to restrict anything but studies.

Ok, that worked. I was able to add an access level called Class Access and granted that level of access to a group called Class Member. Then in Bible Study I was able to restrict access to the Class Member group.

It would be very helpful to have the same option for a Series. This would avoid needing to set the access level for each study, but simply set it for the series (which in our case would be the class or course of lectures).

Thanks for the app! It's looking like it will work out great for us.

You bet, Jeff - no problem.

I'll add that request to the team. It's a good idea.
