Hi
This is not really a request because it is working pretty well for us presently. But i think the concept is good and maybe will give you some ideas.
Here is the process we use to make our sermons available:
1. The sermons are recorded directly to our PC
2. We rename them yyyymmdd Preacher - Topic.mp3 and move them into another folder
3. The computer operator who often know little about computers double-clicks the 'Upload Sermons' icon and the free version of SyncBack runs and ftps the sermons to a fodler on a webserver. This is done as soon as the sermon is finished so by the time people get home the file is uploaded.
4. We make this file available via a small script we wrote that shows the contents of a folder. You can see an exmaple
www.baycfc.org.au/index.php?option=com_b...slist&Itemid=138.
4.1. This is good because although we havent added it to Bible Study yet
people can get to it immediately. We also upload other stuff apart from the sermon like communion messages or testimonies. We dont usually add these to Bible Study. But people still like to get a copy of them. This method allows them to do this.
4.2 This method is also good because it means that when i come to add the file to Bible Study
i dont have to wait for it to be uploaded.
5. So some time later i add the file to Bible Study - usually when i get home. The process is really easy because when i go to add the media i simply go to the 'All Sermons' page, copy the filename shown to the clipboard and paste it into the filename field in Bible Study.
I guess the feature requests would be:
* Can we have a browse option to locate a file that is already loaded on the web server. This would save me having to copy and paste the file name
* The ability to show a list of uploaded sermons that sit simply in a folder on the server as described above is really useful. An additional display option in Bible Study that could show the contents of a folder using the File Type icons would mean i no longer need my script to do it. And it means sermons are available before someone gets to adding them to Bible Study.
Cheers
Andrew
