TOPIC: RTL Support

RTL Support 15 Feb 2010 17:18 #1856

Hi,

I would like to help translate "Bible Study" into Arabic and Kurdish but those two languages are written from right to left.
Is it possible to add an RTL feature that flips the whole layout and text direction of the plugins from LTR to RTL?

Having this feature will allow the plugin to support a large number of languages.
(Major RTL languages: Arabic, Hebrew, Persian (Farsi), Urdu, Kurdish, Syriac Assyrian and others)

Thank you

God bless

I will put this in as a feature request. Not sure at this point how to do it, but will research.

Tom,

Thank you for considering to implement this feature.

Rocket themes just started to add RTL support to all their new templates. This is how they describe it:

"RTL Support
Template side RTL support from the Fusion menu to the Typography. This is in conjunction with Gantry version 2.0's RTL support for the automatic flipping of the grid system.

If Joomla is set to RTL mode, in its language settings, the Kinetic template will automatically adjust to its RTL layout. The modules will invert inside a row, such as showcase-a and showcase-f being in alternate locations; the various template elements such as the breadcrumbs and typography will also flip; and also the menu will adjust accordingly (ensure you are using the latest version of RokNavMenu however)."

Unfortunately i'm not a developer, i'm just a graphic designer but If I can help in any way regarding this subject please let me know.

God bless

Michel

Thanks for the info. I'm not totally sure this will help us - if I understand what you want is to literally have the text from the component displayed LTR? I'm thinking I'll post something on the Joomla.org site under languages to see if other developers have tackled this.

Tom,

I'm attaching an image file of what an RTL website and "Bible Study" plugin would look like.
I hope this will give you some visual help!

Icons can stay the same

God bless
