Would it be possible to tweak the Administration | Images | Series thumbnail (etc) menu option so that it takes the root for this setting from the Global configuration | System | Media settings | 'Path to media folder' or 'Path to images folder'? I've got these set as 'downloads' and 'downloads/images' respectively.

We'll put this in as a feature request. It will be an option button that will take either from the drop down or from the configuration setting. This will be included in version 6.2

Thanks for this being included in the next version as it was one of the first modifications I was looking for: the ability to set a custom images directory path as I personally don't like the default "images/stories" structure that Joomla sets up...

We're working on it. Right now integrating all the changes into the SVN trunk. We have a meeting for Tuesday to discuss our progress. I'm guessing February but it could be sooner.
