I just discovered that all the file names that had spaces in them prior to the upgrade have now been replaced by underscore characters. Sadly this means that all the links are failing because almost every file we have uploaded has had a space (eg 20091025 AM Sermon Description.mp3)

Was this by design or has something gone amiss here? Interestingly even when i type in a file name with spaces the spaces are replaced with underscore characters. So it does not seem to be solely due to the upgrade.

Is there any easy way to get the links working again or do i bite the bullet and rename all the files so the spaces are replaced with underscore chars?

This was by design. I'm sorry if it caused headaches for you. Web best practices don't allow spaces in filenames. In fact, you may not be aware of it, but some of your listeners may not be able to get your files because of the spaces. We did put in a check to remove spaces and other bad web characters and replace them with underscores.

There is a paramter in the administration tab of com_biblestudy (starting with RC3 of version 6.1) that allows you to turn off this checking ability. It is "on" by default.

Thanks Tom. I did a search after i posted to see what others were saying - should have done that first sorry. I saw the other replies and so figured i would change them over. Made the John Piper sermon i was listening to a little less convicting
