I Installed JBS 6.2.4 and everything is fine. my onlu problem comes when playing my files. Im using .mp4 files that are over 250mb large so they take forever to be downloaded and then start playing.

can some of you give me some advice on how to solve this issue?

I've tried the internal player, all videos plugin and AVR
I have a joomla 1.5 site hosted on a Windows server 2008 with media services pkg installed

If you are linking to a file on a server, the users browser will what is called a "progressive download". It will start to download the file and when a certain amount is downloaded, the browser will start playing it.

The only way to get around that (that I'm aware of) is to stream the video from a streaming source like Vimeo or YouTube.

Others may have more information about that, though - that's just been my experience.

Not sure what the media services on a Windows server might do.

I realize the file cannot be played unless some part of has been downloaded. I been searching a lot about this issue and specially happens with .mp4 files in general.
Some people suggest adding a MIME type to the server would fix the probblem -Done that and issue continue

Some other say "The problem is most of the H.264 files have the index at the end of the file which for progressive download means you have to download the whole file before you can start watching any of the video"

I tried this tool but I believe the file still taking to long to load.

windows media services allow to do live stream but it uses windows format (.asf, .asx, )
it might be a matter of the way the server is set but im not sure.

by the way I also looked into h264.code-shop.com/trac#H264StreamingModule but Im not sure if this only allows the file to start playing from any minute/second on the file or also affects the time the file starts playing..

Ok....
When I was doing my testing I was using a local server at home and im not sure if my problem was on my internet connection.
I implemented the "fixes" I found above on my Live server and Im able to play the files much faster.
can some of you give me feedback on this?
